Marco Polo Davao took another part in the yearly Chinese New Year Celebration but this year was the Year of the Fire Rooster at Lotus Court last January 27, 2017 with its regular dining guests from the Filipino-Chinese Community, the hotel’s heads-of-department, together with the media.
The event was started with the traditional dotting of the dragon’s eye at the hotel’s entrance led by Marco Polo Davao’s General Manager Dottie Würgler-Cronin and Mr. Johny Yap of JLY Hardware. One of the evening’s main highlight was the most anticipated Lion Dance, performed by the Eugen Sy and Company, entertaining the guests as they dance away through the hotel. Traditional Chinese cultural performances entertained diners at Lotus Court.
Recently awarded by Philippine Tatler as one of the best restaurants of 2017, Lotus Court showcased its Special Chinese New Year Buffet highlighting the sought-after Pecking Duck, Yin Yang Lapu-Lapu, Chili Crabs, Savory seafood items and homemade tofu. Traditional Chinese New Year Celebration, tikoy (in class and ube flavors) was also served at the buffet and other Chinese desserts like buchi.
It has always been a great experience to dine at Marco Polo Davao and taste the Authentic Chinese cuisine all in one place and Celebrate the Chinese New Year every year, this year was even made better with more food up in the Buffet. I haven’t tried Tikoy before but ever since I tasted their Tikoy last year I can’t stop thinking about it and now they have the Matcha Green Tea Buchi too! (How to Move on lol)
